1. Remove the service cover
HP ZBook 17 G5 has a service cover. We just need to slide the latch to the right with fingers to remove the service cover. No tools are needed. It is very convenient to access the internal upgradable hardware.
Its service cover design is very simple, with only one latch mechanism on the back.
2. M.2 SSD, RAM, and HDD upgrade options
After removing the service cover, you can access two free RAM slots, two free M.2 2280 slots, a hard disk module, and a battery. If you need to access the heatsink, the fan, and the motherboard, you need to remove the entire back cover.
This is a 2.5-inch hard drive module with a quick-swap design. This laptop comes with a 7mm ST2000LX001 SSHD hard drive. I confirm that it also supports 9mm hard drives.
There is a slide lock switch on each of the left and right sides of the battery, which needs to be slid down to unlock it before the battery can be removed. This makes it easy to install and uninstall without tools, and it is much more convenient than screw fixing.
These are two free RAM slots. The laptop has two 16GB of memory installed in the RAM slot on the other side of the motherboard.
3. WWAN slot and battery
This is the M.2 2280 SSD slot on the right side of the fuselage. Above it, there is an M.2 3042 slot reserved for the WWAN module, and a WWAN antenna is also reserved.
The laptop has an 11.55V, 95.9Wh, 8310mAh Li-ion battery with an HP part number L07350-1C1.
