MediaTek Co-CEO Tsai Lixing said that MediaTek will release two new products belonging to the Helio P series on the 2018 mobile platform in the first half of next year, including the Helio P40 processor. The latest news suggests that MediaTek will launch two high-end processors, the Helio P40 and Helio P70.
The Helio P40 and the Helio P70 will be built on the 12nm manufacturing process. The two flagship processors support LPDD4X up to 8GB. It will add AI technology and support facial recognition, AR/VR, and 3D sensor functions.
The P40 chip will consist of four ARM Cortex-A73 cores up to 2.0GHz and four ARM Cortex-A53 cores up to 2.0GHz. It will have Mail G72 MP3 up to 700MHz. The chip supports the Cat.7 baseband.
The Helio P70 chip will have four ARM Cortex-A73 cores up to 2.5GHz and four ARM Cortex-A53 cores up to 2.0GHz. It comes with Mail G72 MP4 up to 800MHz. The chip will support the Cat .12 baseband.
According to the Taiwanese industrial chain, Xiaomi will prepare a new full-screen smartphone, which will be powered by a Helio P40 processor and a Helio P70 processor next year. Three manufacturers, including Vivo, Gionee, and OPPO, will apply the MediaTek P series processor to their mid-range phones.
