We all know that Samsung is working on its upcoming foldable devices, including the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5. Even a few days ago, both models were listed on 3C certification, which hints that Samsung has almost completed the design phase.
This afternoon, the famous blogger Ice Universe revealed the dimensions and weight of Galaxy Z Fold 5, showing that Samsung has reduced the device’s thickness and weight a bit.
As the blogger revealed, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will have the following dimensions: 154.9×129.9×6.1mm in the unfolded state. Compared with Galaxy Z Fold4 (155.1×130.1×6.3mm), all factors, including the device’s length, width, and thickness, have been reduced by 0.2mm in the unfolded state.
In the folded state, the device has the following dimensions: 154.9×67.1×13.4mm. Compared with Galaxy Z Fold4, the length difference is still 0.2mm, and the width is the same as in Galaxy Z Fold4. However, the thickness is reduced by 0.8-2.4mm (Galaxy Z Fold4 dimensions in the folded state: 155.1×130.1×14.2-15.8mm).
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 weighs about 254g, which is 9g less than the Galaxy Z Fold 4 (which weighs 263g). The blogger also mentioned that the inner and outer screen sizes would remain the same, i.e., a 6.2-inch external screen and a 7.6-inch internal screen.
The specifications information regarding the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is relatively minimal. However, it is known that it will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. The chipset is based on 4nm TSMC’s 2nd-generation manufacturing process and features the new Cortex-X3 ultra-core 3.36GHz.
According to reports, Samsung will start mass-producing the Galaxy Z Fold 5 at the beginning of June, and the launch event for this device is expected to take place at the end of July 2023.
