Huawei P50 Pocket to be released on December 23

There have long been reports that Huawei will soon unveil a new foldable phone with a vertical folding solution. Now, the wait seems to be over, as Huawei has officially unveiled its new foldable phone.

This morning, Huawei officially announced that it will launch the Huawei P50 Pocket Edition foldable phone on December 23. The official poster suggests that the device will adopt a vertical folding design.

It was expected that the device might be launched as a Mate series device. However, the company is set to launch its first vertically foldable phone as a P-series device, which is Huawei’s other flagship series but not as high-end as the Mate series.

The previous rumors also claimed that the device would be powered by Huawei’s most powerful SoC, the new Kirin 9000 chipset. The chipset is one of the first to be manufactured using the 5nm process and features four Cortex-A77 cores with a maximum frequency of 3.13GHz.

The new Huawei P50 Pocket foldable phone will compete with the Galaxy Z Flip and Motorola Razr in the consumer market. Its prices are also expected to be lower.
