A few days ago, all the popular Chinese smartphone manufacturers revealed their fast charging technology, which was up to 125W. The iQOO had also announced its fast charging technology, which was up to 120W. It was also reported that the company would unveil a new smartphone with this fast-charging technology soon.
Today, iQOO has officially confirmed its new upcoming iQOO 5 series, which will be launched in a press conference (held on 17 August). According to a well-known blogger @digital chat station, the new series includes two devices. The first one will feature a flagship chipset with excellent performance, while the second one will feature 120W fast charging, which would charge the phone in only 15 minutes.
Previously, an unknown iQOO phone with 120W fast charging was also spotted in the wild. That phone was equipped with a single punch-hole edge display covered in a rugged body. The display was an AMOLED display as it was also showing an Always-On display.
According to the previous introduction of 120W charging, this fast-charging technology is the first to support a 6C specification battery cell, which can withstand a maximum input current of 12A. A customized charge pump technology chip can also complete a 60W conversion power with a dual battery cell series technology. It can convert 20V/6A into 5V/12A, 120W charging input.
Currently, the new iQOO series is set to launch on 17 August.
