Lenovo Thinkpad T440s Disassembly

In this guide, I’ll explain how to disassemble the Lenovo ThinkPad T440s to remove and replace the battery, RAM, wireless card, hard drive, speaker, heat sink, and cooling fan.

Unlock and remove the battery.
Remove eight screws securing the bottom case.

Pry up the bottom case with a pry bar. There are some snaps fixed the bottom case, and you need to unlock all the snaps.

When the bottom case is removed, you can access the battery, hard drive, wireless card, speaker, heat sink, and cooling fan.

Lenovo Thinkpad T440s have a spare slot. You can upgrade RAM simply.

Insert the new RAM.

Remove six screws securing the heat sink. Disconnect the cooling fan cable. You can remove the heat sink and cooling fan.

Thinkpad T440s hard drive, remove one screw. You can remove the hard drive.

Remove three securing the battery and disconnect the battery power cable. You can remove the battery.

Left speaker

T440S speaker, SD card slot, wireless card, 3G WWAN slot, and hard drive

  1. Is there room for more RAM on my T440s? Also, after I changed out my external battery, my battery power only went up to 65%. So, do I need to change the internal battery now for it to power up to 100%? My laptop is about 7 years old.

  2. I use my T440s Lenovo for business; sometimes, it won’t turn on or open. I hope it was the batteries.
