Lenovo Thinkpad T520 Disassembly (Clean Cooling Fan, Remove Keyboard)
In this guide, I’ll explain how to disassemble the Lenovo ThinkPad T520 to remove and replace the DVD drive, RAM, keyboard, palm rest, heat sink, and cooling fan. Refer to this guide, you can repair, upgrade and clean your ThinkPad T520.

Unlock and remove the battery.
Remove all screws from the bottom case.
Under the ram cover, you can find one screw.
Remove the screw.
Remove one screw in the hard drive bay.
Unlock and remove the DVD drive.
Turn over your laptop. Lift up the keyboard and disconnect the keyboard cable. You can remove the keyboard.
In the next step, I will remove the palm rest.
Begin to separate the palm rest. You can pry the palm rest with a pry bar.
Continuing to pry up the palm rest
Lift up the palm rest and disconnect the touchpad cable.
Remove two screws securing the speaker and remove the speaker.
Remove six screws securing the heat sink.
Remove the heat sink and cooling fan.
Now you can clean the ThinkPad T520 cooling fan.
Remove old glues and apply for new glues on the processor.
