MediaTek unveils Kompanio 1300T chipset, it will be powered by the Honor Tablet V7 Pro

This afternoon, MediaTek officially announced a new chipset, Kompanio 1300T, the company’s latest chipset for laptops, Chromebooks, and tablets. The new chipset is the successor to the Kompanio 820 chipset.

The company claims that it can deliver more powerful performance, high-quality multimedia experiences and 5G capabilities. The new chipset is manufactured using TSMC’s 6nm process. It has a total of eight cores, including the Cortex-A78 core and the Cortex-A55 core.

Moreover, the Mali-G77 MC9 GPU has been used along with these cores. The GPU has nine high-performance cores, but the officials haven’t revealed the clock speed. The chipset is equipped with the company’s APU, which can provide robust performance support for various AI features like AI voice assistant and ultra-low-power voice wake-up (VoW) function.

The Kompanio 1300T supports a maximum of 2.5K resolution (2560×1440) with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Not only that, the chipset can also power up to two external displays with Full-HD Resolution and also supports HDR10+ playback. Thanks to the MiraVision display technology, OEMs can filter blue light, enhance picture quality, adjust resolution and frame rate, and more.

The chipset can power multi-cameras with up to 108 million pixel sensors. Furthermore, it also supports 4K@60fps video encoding and decoding, interlaced 4K HDR video recording, multi-depth smart focus, and AI-Clear streaming to enhance photography and live broadcast performance.

For gaming, the chipset features MediaTek’s HyperEngine 3.0, which provides many enhancements to improve network performance, enhance color fidelity, increase touch response speed, and many other things.

It is worth mentioning that the chipset also has 5G connectivity and supports all 5G frequency bands below 6GHz, 2CC carrier aggregation (2CC CA), dual-SIM 5G, 5G elevator mode, and 5G HSR mode enhancements. The chip also supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and 5G UltraSave power saving mode, automatically optimizing power consumption according to network quality.

MediaTek revealed that new tablets and Chromebooks equipped with Kompanio 1300T are expected to be launched in the third quarter of 2021. Honor will launch the V7 Pro tablet on August 12. Honor has confirmed that this tablet will feature a Kompanio 1300T chipset.

MediaTek also said that the Kompanio series platform has a highly integrated SoC design and cutting-edge technology to improve energy efficiency and can help personal computing devices achieve long battery life when the screen is opened, flipped, folded, or even separated.
