A few days before, Xiaomi officially confirmed the existence of its Mix Fold 3 and announced that it would be launched in collaboration with Leica. Recently, the company has also announced the exact launch date.
This afternoon, Xiaomi officially announced that the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 will be launched on August 14. In the official announcement, the officials mentioned, “Light and thin is the evolution process of folding screens, but it is not the end, and there are no shortcomings, which is the future of folding screens.”
In the launch poster, it can be observed that the Mix Fold 3 is equipped with a quad-camera setup. All four cameras are arranged in a square-shaped matrix. The top area is made up of glass, while the other area has a leather texture surface.
As previously reported, this quad camera is named the “Leica Optical Four-Camera” solution. It includes miniaturized OIS motors, ultra-thin high-lens sheets, miniaturized periscope telephoto modules, and a stacked design. In addition, the rear camera setup includes a 3.2x portrait center focus and a 5x periscopic telephoto lens.
Moreover, it was also reported that the Mix Fold 3 would feature an 8.02-inch inner display that would support Full-HD+ resolution, while the cover display would be a 6.5-inch single punch-hole display. Both support a refresh rate of 120Hz. The Mix Fold 3 also comes with a new waterdrop hinge design, enhancing the anti-drop performance while maintaining a thin and lightweight body.
The new foldable phone is reportedly powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen2 chipset based on TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing process. It features a Cortex-X3 Super Core, a Snapdragon X70 5G modem, and the Adreno 740 GPU. The battery capacity is unknown. However, the Mix Fold 3 will support 67W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
