Back in March 2021, OnePlus introduced its OnePlus 9 flagship series, which was equipped with the latest Qualcomm chipsets. OnePlus has never used any other company’s SoC except Qualcomm. But now, the latest leaks suggest that history might have changed.
Recently, the well-known blogger Digital Chat Station revealed that OnePlus is now working on a new smartphone powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 1200. This would be the first time that OnePlus will use the MediaTek chipset.
The blogger mentions that phones equipped with the Dimensity 1200 have a straight screen with a punch hole in the upper left corner, and the screen-to-body ratio is also reasonable.
The camera module appearance of this device will be similar to the OnePlus 9 Pro. It has the same main camera lens, the 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor. As the blogger mentioned, the total number of camera lenses will be three. At the location of the 4th lens, an LED flash will be placed.
Surprisingly, this phone will use the old Oxygen OS, while all the company’s latest phones use Color OS. The blogger also mentioned that it is not confirmed whether it will be exclusive to China or launched globally.
According to the blogger, the price of OnePlus’s first MediaTek SoC-equipped device will be around CNY 2000 (roughly $313). We can also expect OnePlus to launch this device as its first gaming phone.
