This afternoon, MediaTek has officially released its brand new Dimensity 820 chipset. The vice president of Xiaomi Group and Redmi Brand, Lu Weibing, was also invited to the launch event of this chipset.

In the launch event, he revealed that Redmi is about to launch the Redmi 10X, which will be equipped with the latest Dimensity 820 5G chipset. The upcoming Redmi 10X is going to be the first phone using the Dimensity 820 5G chipset. The chipset has already had a score of 409,449 on the AnTuTu benchmark.

We had also done a benchmark test on the Redmi 10X engineering prototype. We got a score of 409,449 on AnTuTu, while on GeekBench, we got a score of 646 on single-core and 2529 on multi-core.

According to the mobile SOC performance ranking, Dimensity 820 currently ranks 16th in overall performance, far exceeding Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G, slightly exceeding Huawei’s Kirin 820, and close to Kirin 985. In particular, multi-core performance is enough to reach the top ten level.

The new Dimensity 820 5G processor is built on 7nm production. It has a total of eight cores. The first four performance cores are ARM Cortex-A76, clocked at 2.6 GHz, while the other four energy-efficient cores are ARM Cortex-A55, clocked at 2 GHz.

The official claims that its single-core performance is 7% higher than Snapdragon 765G, and its multi-core performance is 37% higher. The Dimensity 820 processor has a “Mali-G57 MC5” GPU and the same Valhall architecture as in Dimensity 1000+.

It is also reported that Dimensity 820 is equipped with the world’s most advanced M70 5G baseband, which supports NSA/SA 5G Network, 5G + 5G dual card’s standby, 5G dual-carrier aggregation, and is also equipped with the latest UltraSave 5G power-saving technology. MediaTek also claims that the Dimensity 820 is better than the Snapdragon 765G in terms of power consumption and speed.

Moreover, Dimensity 820 supports Mediatek Imagiq 5.0 image processing technology, also uses 4-core HDR-ISP, supports up to 80 million pixel multi-camera combination, and can shoot multiple frames in 4K HDR video.

The new chipset is equipped with the exclusive MediaTek MiraVision image quality engine, which supports a maximum screen refresh rate of 120Hz and HDR10+. It also supports HyperEngine gaming technology for a better gaming environment.
