Redmi Gaming Phone will be an enhanced version of Redmi K40, launches on April 27

A few days ago, Redmi officially announced that the company was about to launch its first-ever gaming phone. Although the smartphone was listed on many certification sites, its appearance and launch date were still unknown. Today, the officials have revealed almost all the details.

Recently, the General Manager of Redmi (Lu Weibing) announced that the gaming phone will be an enhanced version of the Redmi K40 and will be launched officially on April 27. The complete name of the phone would be Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition.

The launch poster also reveals that the Redmi gaming phone will feature a triple camera setup. There are also two words mentioned on the camera bump: speedy and freezing. It is expected that the phone will be designed with a carbon fiber back.

The gaming phone might have a special gaming button. As can be seen, there is a sliding button that pop-up another button and lights up the camera area. The officials also mentioned the slogan: Not as thin and light as a hardcore gaming phone.

Previously, it was also revealed that the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition would feature a Samsung E4 AMOLED punch-hole display with a 144Hz refresh rate. Like the Redmi K40, the display would have a small aperture, and the size of the side bezels and bottom chins would also be shallow.

The phone is expected to be powered by the Dimensity 1200, which is based on a 6nm manufacturing process. It consists of one Ultra Cortex-A78 core, three Cortex-A78 cores, and four Cortex-A55 cores.

The phone will feature a 5000mAh battery inside, which supports 67W fast charging. It will also feature a side fingerprint scanner.

The Redmi K40 Gaming Edition will be announced on April 27 at 19:30 in an online event.
