A few days ago, Qualcomm launched its all-new Snapdragon 888 5G based on a 5nm manufacturing process. The chipset also features a Cortex-X1 super core for the first time.
It seems like the company is now working on the next chipset, which is expected to be the overclocked version of its latest chipset. It would be named Snapdragon 888+, as happened in the past.
The famous Chinese blogger Digital Chat Station has revealed that the Snapdragon 888+ chipset is scheduled to launch in the second half of 2021. Maybe the chipset will be launched in June or July.
He also mentioned that Qualcomm had written the highest frequency (of Snapdragon 888) to 840MHz to prevent manufacturers from secretly overclocking.
The current flagship chipset Snapdragon 888 5G consists of eight cores: 1x Cortex-X1 Super (2.84GHz), 3x Cortex-A78 Performance Core (2.42GHz), 4x Cortex-A55 Energy Efficient Cores (1.8GHz). It is expected that the highest frequency will be increased to 3.1GHz.
In the Snapdragon 865 series, the highest frequency was increased from 2.84GHz to 3.1GHz in Snapdragon 865+. The same thing is expected this year.
Currently, the new Snapdragon 888+ is expected in the middle of 2021.
