Xiaomi files patent for rotating camera

Today, with the development of mobile phones, they have a variety of functions. The camera is a very important and most commonly used function. We know that in addition to the conventional camera, there are also pop-up and under-screen cameras, but Xiaomi has obtained a rotation camera patent.

The patent was applied on June 28, 2019, and released on June 23, 2020. The patent was submitted by Beijing Xiaomi Mobile Software Co., Ltd. to the China National Intellectual Property Administration Office in June last year.

According to the pictures in the patent, the camera module can rotate 360 degrees. When it is working, the camera will stand up to take photos. But the most interesting thing is that it can also work when the camera turns to the left or right. This is a very interesting design. If it is applied to the mobile phone, when the mobile phone is put in the pocket, the camera module may move to another angle due to external force.

It’s worth noting that this mobile phone does not have a front camera hole, so we know that it should use the under-screen camera module. At present, Visionox has broken through this technology and achieved mass production. The mobile phone with the under-screen camera is expected to be released in the second half of this year.

Although patents may not come true in the end, they show the direction of a company’s efforts. As smartphones continue to challenge the limits of mobile photography, there must be new technologies to achieve. After all, you can’t always increase the sensor size and focal length.
